Judy Ann Santos wants tax-evasion case to be over before she marries Ryan Agoncillo

Judy Ann Santos’s happiness over her movie Ploning—which was chosen as the Philippines’ bet in the best foreign language film category of Oscar Awards—is marred by the fact that she still has to face the tax-evasion charges filed against her by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in 2005.

“I haven’t talked to my lawyers yet,” said Judy Ann in an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal). “I’ll be having a meeting with them later tonight. Ang masasabi ko na lang, magdadasal ako na sana matapos na, sana maayos na. Kung ano man ang hatol ng Korte Suprema, tatanggapin ko yun nang buong-puso at nirerespeto ko naman kung ano ang magiging opinion nila sa kaso ko. Wala naman akong tinalikurang problema kahit noon pa man.”

Was she shocked by the decision of the Supreme Court in rejecting her petition?

“Nandiyan na kasi ‘yan. Hindi na rin ako nabigla kasi dalawang taon na tumatakbo ang kaso. Siguro magugulat ako kung sinabi na dismissed na yung case. Naipasok ko na sa sistema ko na isipin ang mga worst things na puwede pang mangyari para hindi na ako nade-depress,” the young superstar answered.

The actress says that she is placing her trust in God regarding this case. “Meron naman akong accountant ever since… Itong nangyari sa kaso, hindi ko accountant yun. Yun lang ang taon na hindi sa aking accountant yun,” she explained.

Has she forgiven the people who caused this inconvenience on her?

“Ayoko na siyang isipin,” Juday said. “Pinapagpasa-Diyos ko na lang sila. Kumbaga, mag-isa kong laban ito. Wala akong iaagrabyadong tao kahit pamilya ko, although I know for a fact that my family, my friends and Ryan [Agoncillo, her boyfriend] will always be behind me. Hindi ko sila idadamay kasi enough na ang strength na nakukuha ko sa kanila.”

Judy Ann wants the case to be resolved so that her mother, Mommy Carol, would finally get peace of mind.

“Naaawa na rin ako sa mommy ko dahil sa stress na inaabot ni Mommy. I really think Mommy doesn’t deserve all this stress anymore. Wala naman siya dito noong panahong iniimbestigahan ako at sunud-sunod din yung issues habang nasa Europe ako. Yung health ni Mommy bumagsak dahil sa stress sa akin.”

MISSING RYAN AGONCILLO. Juday has already informed Ryan about the news and he advised her to talk with her lawyers and clarify what happened.

How does she cope now that her fiancé Ryan Agoncillo is in Argentina shooting for his reality show Pinoy Fear Factor?

“Nagbibilang kami ng araw ng pag-uwi. Ang usapan namin Sundays ang bibilangin namin, e, kasi mas madali ang pagdating ng araw ‘pag Sunday. Kasi five Sundays siya nawala, so ngayon, one Sunday na lang. Sana Sunday na!”

She has said in the past that she wants her tax-evasion case to be over and done with before she gets married.

“Ideally, yun ang gusto kong mangyari. Bago kasi dumating si Ryan sa buhay ko, may kaso na ako talaga. Kumbaga, may pinatong nang kaso sa ulo ko so ayokong papasok kami sa bagong buhay na may bibitbiting problema, ‘tapos pagdating ng panahon, poproblemahin din niya. I really don’t find it fair for him na pati siya mamomroblema sa issue ko. ‘Pag naging kami na, masayang buhay na talaga. Kung may kakaharapin kaming problema, yung kaming dalawa na.”

With this development, does this mean that their wedding will not happen in the near future?

“E, madadaan sa usapan ‘yan. Marami pang dapat gawin—bahay, negosyo, at magpapapayat muna ako,” Juday said.
