Spotlight on Dingdong Dantes

José Sixto Gonzales Dantes III, popularly known as Dingdong Dantes, is one of the hottest male actors of today. Dingdong was born on August 2, 1980 in Quezon City. Just like a number of popular stars of his generation, Dingdong also started his career in German Moreno’s “That’s Entertainment.” He later joined the cult teeny-bopper series on GMA “T.G.I.S.”
Dingdong was first paired with former girlfriend Antoinette Taus, spun films like Honey My Love So Sweet and I’m Sorry My Love and other television outings including Anna Karenina.
In 2002, Dantes was paired with actress Tanya Garcia as they top-bill in GMA-7’s primetime soap opera series entitled Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga. Their pairing was received satisfactorily and the show raked ratings. Dantes and Garcia also headlined in another primetime romance-drama billing in 2003 entitle Twin Hearts.
Dingdong then took on several hosting stints and has emceed for Binibining Pilipinas Pageant in numerous occasions. His flair and spontaneity in the field eventually led him to be selected as host for GMA Network’s reality artist search, StarStruck in 2003 and has since hosted in the seasons that followed. Aside from StarStruck, he also hosted the horror anthology “Wag Kang Kukurap.”
In 2007, Dingdong returned to primetime as he was paired with Marian Rivera in the Philippine version of Marimar. The show was a ground breaking moment not just for Dingdong but also for GMA as well as it became the highest-rating tv program nationwide. His popularity in Marimar fueled his stint as the no. 1 hunk of Cosmopolitan Magazine for 2007.
In 2008, the winning streak continued for Dingdong as his fantaserye “Dyesebel” with Marian Rivera hit no. 1 in the NUTAM ratings.
Dingdong became the newest face for Bench Body and he was picked for several endorsements for various products as well.
Dingdong was voted Most Popular Actor in a drama series for 2008 by USTv’s Students Choice Awards.
